One of my favorite activities in 4th grade Spanish is la persona especial, in which we interview a student. The student sits in my teacher chair in the front of the room. We ask them questions about themselves like:
¿De dónde eres?
¿Cuántos años tienes?
¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?
¿Cómo es tu familia?
¿Cuál es tu libro favorito?
¿Cuál es tu animal favorito?
One of our favorite questions is, "If you could have any animal as a pet, which animal would it be?" A few of the answers we have had so far: un perro, un gato morado, un unicornio, un velociraptor, un erizo, and un dragón.
After the Special Person interview, I type up the student's answers and make them into a poster for our hallway. Students love reading about each other in Spanish! If you are on campus, we would love for you to visit our Modern Language hallway and check out some of our Special Person posters! About one third of our 4th grade students have been interviewed so far; the rest of the students will be interviewed by the end of the school year. We typically interview one student every 1-2 weeks, depending on our schedule.
Here are some of the posters in our hallway:
